Extend the Life of Every Pallet

A pallet with a cracked board or a broken stringer is not trash — it is a repair job away from another three to five trips through the supply chain. At Chicago Pallet Solutions, our repair operation processes thousands of pallets per week at our Romeoville facility, returning them to full service at a fraction of the cost of buying new.

Every pallet we repair is one less unit manufactured from virgin lumber. That means fewer trees harvested, less energy consumed, and lower carbon emissions — all while saving your business real money on packaging materials.

We repair all standard pallet sizes and configurations, including 48x40 GMA, 42x42, 48x48, and custom dimensions. Whether you need 50 pallets repaired or 5,000, our capacity and turnaround times scale to meet your needs.

Repair Services

Types of Repairs We Perform

From a single board swap to a complete overhaul, we have the skills, materials, and equipment to handle any level of pallet damage.

Board Replacement

Cracked, split, or missing deck boards and bottom boards are replaced with dimensional lumber that matches the original specifications. We use both hardwood and softwood replacement stock depending on the pallet design and intended load capacity.

Stringer Repair

Broken or notch-damaged stringers are repaired using industry-standard companion stringer or plug-and-patch methods. For block pallets, damaged blocks are replaced individually without dismantling the entire unit. Every repair is load-tested.

Full Reconditioning

Pallets that need multiple repairs — several boards, a stringer, and new fasteners — go through our full reconditioning line. We replace all defective components, re-nail with ring-shank or screw-shank nails, and trim any protruding fasteners for safe handling.

Cosmetic Refurbishment

For pallets used in retail display, trade shows, or branded environments, we offer cosmetic-grade refurbishment including sanding, cleaning, staining, and even branding or stenciling. The result is a pallet that looks new at a recycled price.

Quality Assurance

Repaired Does Not Mean Compromised

Every pallet leaving our repair line meets rigorous quality standards. We inspect, test, and document every repair to ensure the pallets you receive perform exactly as intended.

Visual Inspection

Every repaired pallet undergoes a multi-point visual inspection for protruding nails, split wood, proper board spacing, and overall structural integrity.

Load Testing

Repaired pallets are tested to meet or exceed the load capacity of the original design — typically 2,500 lbs dynamic load for standard 48x40 GMA pallets.

Fastener Compliance

We use only ring-shank or screw-shank nails that meet NWPCA standards for withdrawal resistance. Pneumatic nailers are calibrated daily for consistent depth and angle.

Dimensional Accuracy

Replacement lumber is sized to match original specifications within industry tolerance. We stock a full range of dimensional lumber to handle any pallet design.

Contamination Screening

All pallets are inspected for contamination, pest damage, and odor before repair. Pallets that have carried hazardous materials or show insect infestation are flagged and handled separately.

Tracking & Documentation

For managed accounts, every repair is logged with before/after condition notes, parts used, and date completed. This data feeds into your pallet management reporting.

Cost Comparison

Repair vs. Buying New

The numbers tell a clear story. Pallet repair delivers the same performance at a fraction of the cost, with faster availability and a lighter environmental footprint.

Repair Options

On-Site or Off-Site — Your Choice

We offer both on-site and off-site repair options to fit your operational needs, space constraints, and volume requirements.

On-Site Repair

For high-volume operations that generate large quantities of damaged pallets daily, we station a repair crew directly at your facility. Our team brings all necessary tools, fasteners, and replacement lumber, working within your operation to repair pallets as they come off the line.

Eliminates transportation costs entirely
Immediate turnaround — repaired pallets go right back into rotation
Best for operations processing 500+ pallets per week
Dedicated crew trained on your specific pallet specs

Off-Site Repair

We pick up your damaged pallets, transport them to our fully equipped Romeoville repair facility, and return them in ready-to-use condition. This option is ideal for businesses with limited yard space or lower volumes that do not justify a permanent on-site crew.

No space requirements at your facility
Access to our full repair line and equipment capabilities
Scheduled pickup and return delivery included in pricing
Typical turnaround of 1-3 business days depending on volume
